In 1976, Kenny Powers Attempted to Jump a River in a Rocket-Powered Lincoln

In 1976, stuntman Kenny Powers (no, not that Kenny Powers) attempted to jump the mile-wide St. Lawrence River in a rocket-powered Lincoln. The stunt was a massive failure and a total waste of $1 million. Powers got the car to speeds in excess of 200 mph, but it was not nearly enough to cross the river. The car disintegrated shortly after leaving the ramp.
