Dave Grohl did his first performance since the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins when he joined Paul MCCartney Saturday night at England’s Glastonbury festival.

Introducing him, McCartney, who inducted the Foos into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last October, said, “I’ve got a little surprise for you. Your hero from the west coast of America – Dave Grohl!”

Taking the stage, Grohl said, “Hi Paul. How are you?” before asking the audience how they were.

They then did “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Band on the Run.”

McCartney said Grohl flew in specially to do this, and Grohl said, "Well, I started on Wednesday. Then the flight got canceled, back to the airport Thursday and then the flight got canceled, but I swear I would never miss being on stage with you right now."

Bruce Springsteen, who joined McCartney on June 16th at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — performing his “Glory Days” — flew over to reprise the song, as well as staying out for “I Want to Be Your Man.” Both Grohl and Springsteen came out for the guitar jam on “The End.”
