LISA'S ANIMAL TALES: COMMUNITY RALLIES TO RESCUE A POD OF DOLPHINS

Last Friday in Digby, Nova Scotia, the tide went out in the Annapolis Basin -- and stranded a pod of Atlantic white-sided dolphins. These poor dolphins were literally stuck in the mud.

Upon hearing news of the stranded dolphins, dozens of people in Digby came to their rescue, working with government fish experts and first responders to gently free, the dolphins, sending them back into the ocean.

It was a dirty job, as everyone had to slosh around in the mud to keep the dolphins safe until they could be moved. But the mess was well worth it -- and quite an adventure.

It was an unusually warm November day. The water wasn't very cold and nobody cared about getting wet and muddy.

And within a couple of hours, all 16 dolphins were safely returned to the sea.

While the rescue mission was a great success for the stranded dolphins, it also brought the community together in a way that will not soon be forgotten.
